Why UGC NET..
On the other hand, if you have a PhD, you will be eligible for teaching posts in universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has clarified the PhD requirement for Assistant Professor (Entry Level) posts in Universities. From now on, it will be difficult to join the Universities as an Assistant Professor with the National Eligibility Test (NET) qualification. Eligibility, Ph.D.
In 2018, the government made PhD mandatory for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in UGC colleges. But the implementation of the policy was delayed due to the epidemic. Many PhD candidates are unable to complete degrees.
Therefore the implementation to be done this year has been postponed. The Ministry of Education has lifted the criteria for the current year to fill the vacant posts of universities. On this, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that he had stopped implementing the policy this year. However the policy was not rescinded. He said the decision was taken only to expedite the filling of vacant teacher posts in higher education institutions.
